Emily the Cornsnake

Emily the corn snake (Elaphe guttata guttata), also known as Emmy, was born October 2007 at Scales and Tails in Milton, VT. She is an anerythristic A, with a slight yellow coloring along either side of her neck.

Emily was named after a central character of Charles Dickens' David Copperfield, Mr. Peggotty's niece and David's childhood friend.  In the book, Emily's character embodies tainted purity, a fallen angle, tempted and lured away by James Steerforth.  After all the years of playing Satan, the snake finally gets the role of Eve.
